For 50 years, Refuge has supported hundreds of thousands of women and children affected by domestic abuse. What started as one safe house became a movement. Every day our life-saving services support thousands of women and children.

We still have a long way to go. On average a woman is killed by a current or former partner every 5 days in England and Wales. Almost all these deaths are preventable.

Refuge is part of a community of thousands of people working to end domestic abuse for good. Together we work to protect the 1.6 million women and 800,000 children who experience abuse each year in England and Wales.
